But that aside, guess what! You get to read another one of my poems. I wrote is a little over a week ago. Enjoy, or not. The choice is yours.
Forge Ahead
The man who sleeps never lives
And the one who lives never sleeps.
Define us this moment, then graciously give
The dead honor, for the one who weeps.
Call it truth or call it virtue
Fools will be fooled,
And the wise always have a clue,
To when the rug's been pulled
Out from beneath them on a dreary night.
To suffer for the cause
Then end with such a plight:
To wish for life and a bloodied gauze,
Is what the sleeping soldier lost.
We say God bless,
But a life we tossed,
Will it cost more or less?
There cannot be gain,
Unless there is loss,
There will be pain,
Over this we cannot gloss.
Suffer the truth,
Or lose what is lost,
Enter the booth.
Or let your back be crossed.
Honor the dead,
Let the living be free,
Forge on ahead,
Let this be.
The man who sleeps never lives
And the one who lives never sleeps.
Define us this moment, then graciously give
The dead honor, for the one who weeps.
Call it truth or call it virtue
Fools will be fooled,
And the wise always have a clue,
To when the rug's been pulled
Out from beneath them on a dreary night.
To suffer for the cause
Then end with such a plight:
To wish for life and a bloodied gauze,
Is what the sleeping soldier lost.
We say God bless,
But a life we tossed,
Will it cost more or less?
There cannot be gain,
Unless there is loss,
There will be pain,
Over this we cannot gloss.
Suffer the truth,
Or lose what is lost,
Enter the booth.
Or let your back be crossed.
Honor the dead,
Let the living be free,
Forge on ahead,
Let this be.
Written in light of many things. Our country, the men who died for it, the men who fight for it. The ignorant people who those soldiers died for. The people who do not care for truth. Too many people are blindsided and forget what freedom cost, what it means. With election time rolling around I think way too many people don't care. Enter the booth with the truth of what's going on, or let your back be crossed. What makes American great? Democracy, freedom of speech (among many many other things). Too many take it for granted. Too many people just don't care.

I love this post so much! especially since I just got back from a support the troops rally yesterday. People forget that the freedom of speech that they throw in the soldiers faces so often is something being protected by those very men and women risking their lives daily. It's so disgusting to see these protesters at the rallys basically saying screw you to the soldiers, and abusing their freedom of speech. the freedom that wasn't free.
