Never say Never

So I started piano lessons the other day. I secretly hope to possibly major in musical studies of some kind when I go to college. It always seemed like a distant dream I would always wish for but never had a hint of reality.

Then I started taking voice lessons at the beginning of the school year. Nice start. No where near what I needed to ever think of taking on college level anything musical. Then I talked to my voice teacher about it. She told me I needed piano skills. So we talked about if I actually wanted to seriously do this in college. Vocal performance or something of the sort. I said yes. So we got down to business.

Now I alter between voice and piano. Every other week. We've set up a schedule. From here on out until the end of summer she's going to push me hard. I'll quickly learn to play piano (thankfully I have a keyboard at home... but not a full keyboard). So I'll be a speed demon learning all this stuff that freaks me out. (Yes... reading music and using both my hands while playing the piano freaks me out). I just find it hard to make my hands do two different things at once. AH! But I have a lot to practice this week. I'm going to do it. I want this. I want to learn how to play. So it's not AS hard as I thought. I'm easing into it. I'll learn to read music too (which freaks me out too). For some reason really hard and intimidating things freak me out. But I love challenges anyways. I'm so weird. And also we're starting a piece that will stretch me vocally. YES! I have someone who is willing to push my musical talent. I'm so excited for this. Then once summer has come and gone we'll talk about if I still want to pursue music as much as I thought (she's going to give me a taste of college course type stuff). And if I say yes and it didn't completely make me hate music.. we'll forge ahead. I'll begin taking a whole hour for class not just the half hour I'm doing now. I'll have to really buckle down and put it even more effort. So we'll see how all this goes until summer. I'm looking forward to it. I've never actually wanted something so bad. I've never really had a specific direction of something I wanted. My parents kind of over look me. They praise my musical talent but never really pushed me into anything nor did they know what to do with talent like mine (I'm the only one in my family who has a hint of musical abilities). The thing that excited me most about all this is that my teacher told me I don't need science in college if I major with something vocally (Hallelujah!) I hate science. I guess I'm doing okay in chemistry. I think I have a 99 average or something like that, not too shabby for a girl who despises every minute of enduring such a class and homework.

Anyways. I'm excited to see where all this musical stuff is headed!

Adieu my dear. I hope to write again soon.
